Women’s Ministries Departmental Advisory

Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD)

[Korea] The Women’s Ministries (WM) Department Advisory was held November 8-10, 2016, at the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) headquarters. Directors and leaders met from around the division to prayerfully strategize for the next five years. Raquel Arrais, associate director for the General Conference (GC) WM department, was the featured guest presenter. Mrs. Arrais gave a powerful devotional stressing that Jesus is woman’s best friend, ready to help her in her need if she will trust in Him. She also gave presentations on effective leadership, strategic planning, and available resources.

During the three-day advisory, WM leaders focused on “Touch a Heart, Reach My World,” and “Women United in Ministry,” the themes for this quinquennium. Reports which covered challenges and plans for their territories were given by each union/mission leader. Special sessions were devoted to prayer, brainstorming, and planning.

Dr. Jairyong Lee (NSD president) welcomed the directors and encouraged them to lead out in the spirit of mission and Total Member Involvement. A special presentation was also given by Seong Jun Byun (associate director of Communication) to instruct and inspire excellence in writing and documenting important events.

A highlight of the advisory was attending the one-year anniversary celebration of the Seoul Northern Sunflower Center, an abuse treatment center at Sahmyook Hospital. Following the ceremony, the leaders were given a private tour of the facility. An added feature was visiting Sahmyook University’s prayer garden for a special recommitment and prayer. The outing concluded with a stopover at Seoul’s annual Lantern Festival.

The WM department has set goals for the work to be done in the next quinquennium. The emphases are divided into three areas: Nurture (Reach Up with God), Empower (Reach In with God), and Outreach (Reach Out with God). Believing that “we have different gifts, according the grace given us . . .” (Romans 12:6, NIV), WM will seek to nurture, empower, and reach out to ensure that all women are involved in Christ’s mission and service. There is a ministry for every woman!
