Dear Sisters:

Joyful greetings to you. Can you list five things that you can rejoice and praise God for today? Take a moment to do that then come back to reading this letter...

So, what did you come up with? How do you feel? Giving God praise is one way to help you rejoice. The Bible tells us "Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord's name is to be praised" Ps 113:2, 3. God loves to hear us give Him praise and thanks each day.

I may have shared this with you before but be my bedside, on the small night stand I have a small journal. I bought it in the dollar store. Each night I try not to go to sleep until I have written five reasons to praise God from my day. I know God loves to hear me give Him the thanks and praise for what He does in my life every day.

Another reason I do this is because I don't want to forget what God is doing in my life. It's so easy to forget God's blessings and goodness to us. Life rushes by and we get caught up in just surviving one day to another. And we forget. We forget what God did for us yesterday, or last week or last month. So I write it down. Then when the enemy of my soul throws another trial at me and I am tempted to complain, I pick up one of those journals and read a few pages and remind myself that I serve a God who is able. Soon I am rejoicing and praising God, not only for what He has done but also for what He will do.

One other reason I keep that journal of thanks is so that I can pass them down as my legacy of faith to my children. I want them to know that their mother was a true believer in God; that I trusted Him and He heard my prayers. I want them to know that sometimes I struggled and stumbled in my walk with God but I never stayed down. When I cried out Jesus picked me up and gave me the strength to keep on going.

What a mighty God we serve! Do you know it! If you don't take time to write down what God is doing in your life, thank Him for life, for your hands, for your eyesight, your ability to love and care for others, for that dress you bought on sale, that car parking space He provided for you when traffic was at its worst. The list goes on and on.

So join me as I say "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night..." Ps 91:1, 2

God is so good, how can you not give Him thanks.
