Women's Ministries Mission Statement

The Department of Women's Ministries exists to uphold, encourage, and challenge Adventist women in their pilgrimage as disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His world church.

Vision: Women empowered and nurtured to fulfill their God-given potential.

Mission: Our mission is in the larger sense common to all Christians—that of uplifting Christ in the Church and in the world. But more specifically, we are called to:

Nurture—Reach Up to God
Empower—Reach Across with God
Outreach—Reach Out with God

Nurture, Empower, and Outreach
Focus Equips Women for Ministry

A Ministry For Every Woman: Reach a Heart, Tell The World

“A Ministry for Every Woman: Reach a Heart, Tell the World” is a program developed by General Conference Women’s Ministries to advance the work of sharing the gospel using the methods that Christ used.

There are three areas of focus when it comes to equipping, training, and inspiring women to serve: Nurture, Empower, and Outreach.

  1. NURTURE: Reach Up to God—To help women in their devotional time and personal growth, enabling them to be nurturers in the church and community.
  2. EMPOWER: Reach Across with God—To equip women for their activities and projects for the church and community.
  3. OUTREACH: Reach Out with God—To help women use small group fellowship and evangelism to reach others in their community.

GC Women’s Ministries provides guidelines, ideas, and resources for each of these three areas of ministry. Download the booklet, A Ministry for Every Woman: Touch a Heart, Tell the World

The Mission: Focus on Outreach

Giving Bible studies is not as hard as most imagine, and one does not have to be a Bible scholar to be successful. The number one secret of effective Bible study is prayer. Pray before the Bible study, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide in the study. Pray as you give the study, constantly asking the Holy Spirit to give you the right and loving words.

The Action

"Christ’s method ALONE will give true success in reaching people. The Savior mingled with [people] as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. THEN He bade them, ‘follow Me’." (Ellen G. White, Ministry of Healing, pp. 143.)

The Call

"We greatly need consecrated women who, as messengers of mercy, shall visit the mothers and the children in their homes, and help them in the everyday household duties, if need be, before beginning to talk to them regarding the truth for this time. You will find that by this method you will have souls as the result of your ministry."—Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, July 12, 1906.
